UN warns of high number of children injured in Gaza due to aggression

Ramallah, Oct 19 (Prensa Latina) A UN agency warned about the large number of children injured in Gaza Strip as a result of two years of Israeli attacks.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA) explained that many of them have lost limbs or have to live with lifelong disabilities.

“I don’t know where my leg went. At the hospital, I heard them say it was under the rubble and will never reappear,” Malak, a six-year-old girl said, quoted by UNRWA.

“The needs of children there are immense; our teams continue to provide care and health services to help them rebuild their lives,” she emphasized.

UNRWA warned about the serious education crisis in Gaza Strip due to the war and the destruction of hundreds of facilities, including schools and universities.

The agency stated that more than 8,000 teachers are ready to work immediately after a long hiatus.

Many schools were destroyed or converted into shelters for displaced people, hampering the educational process and disrupting the lives of thousands of students, the entity emphasized.

The agency emphasized that children in Gaza have been “deprived of education for too long.”

Almost daily, the agency calls on the world to increase aid to the Palestinian territory, where more than 68,000 deaths have been reported in the two years of aggression.
