The Paz-Edman Lara duo obtained 54.5 percent of the vote nationwide, with a turnout of between 85 and 89 percent of the electoral roll, according to figures released by the body in charge of the elections.
Faced with this irreversible trend, the other protagonist of the vote, representing Alianza Libre, Jorge Tuto Quiroga, called Paz, congratulated him, and in a speech acknowledged defeat to his fellow party members.
