We’re currently monitoring 47 temporary waste collection sites to ensure the safety of neighboring communities, said the official, quoted by Wafa.
Cilliers stated, “Unfortunately, many internally displaced people live near these sites, but we’re working to rehabilitate and cover them to prevent the spread of diseases among the population.”
He emphasized that solid waste management in the coastal enclave is a huge undertaking and an essential part of the reconstruction process. The official estimated in Geneva a week ago that rebuilding that territory after two years of Israeli aggression will cost at least 70 billion dollars, 20 billion dollars of which will be needed over the next three years to make life there viable.
