China rejects US coercion and emphasizes support for Cuba

Beijing, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) China rejected the United States' coercive tactics and pressure on other nations, while underscoring its support for Cuba against the blockade that Washington has imposed on it for more than 60 years.

In response to a question from Prensa Latina, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun pointed out that the United States not only fails to reflect on its actions but is intensifying its policy of coercion, which violates international law, the basic principles of international relations, and humanitarian law.

Guo emphasized that this stance puts the United States at odds with justice and equity, which will likely generate widespread opposition from the international community.

The spokesperson pointed out that China firmly opposes the US blockade and has voted in favor of the Cuban resolution at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for 32 consecutive years, since 1992.

He added that nearly 190 countries support the resolution, clearly demonstrating the majority position of the world.

The UNGA has annually approved the resolution submitted by Cuba against the US blockade since 1992.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez underscored that the United States is resorting to intimidation and blackmail tactics to undermine international support for lifting the blockade, in a move he described as a disrespectful offensive.
