On X, Rodriguez emphasized that since its founding, the ESTI has worked with revolutionary diplomacy and guaranteed excellent translation with high-ranking representatives from several countries.

The foreign minister added, “I send a warm embrace to its team, an example of commitment and selfless work.”

According to the ESTI website, three years after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, the scholarship system was established, and the training of translators and interpreters began at Pablo Lafargue Institute.

At that educational institution, the first specialists in Russian, English, German, French, and Czech were trained for a short period. A few years later, translators and interpreters would begin to be trained in 13 languages.

The Tricontinental Conference, in 1966, marked the beginning of conference interpreting services in Cuba and laid the foundation for the official establishment of the institution on October 23, 1973.
