Malaysia: AECC Meeting holds sessions ahead of ASEAN Summit

Kuala Lumpur Conference Center hosts the event ahead of the 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and related summits, which will take place at the same venue from October 26 to 28.

Malaysian Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Zafrul Abdul Aziz stated that the issues discussed will impact the content of the 47th Summit, and the updates shared this Friday will assess the progress, while identifying areas that require renewed focus and collective efforts.

The AECC, one of the three ASEAN Community Councils, is the key coordinating body overseeing the work of the ASEAN Economic Community pillar of the regional bloc comprised of Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Brunei, and Myanmar.

This is the fifth time that Malaysia has assumed the presidency of ASEAN since it was established in 1967.

Malaysia has previously chaired ASEAN in 1977, 1997, 2005, and 2015.
