“This framework seeks to strengthen and consolidate existing cooperation mechanisms, as well as promote the creation of new instruments that deepen collaboration between the two countries,” the Joint Declaration stated.
The document remembers that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1950, Vietnam and Bulgaria have cultivated a traditional friendship and broad and solid cooperation, based on mutual trust, equality, and mutual respect.
The text also underscored that this relationship is based on respect for the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in the internal affairs of each country, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and the principles of the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation between Vietnam and the European Union (EU).
To Lam held official talks on Thursday with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, met with Atanas Zafirov, leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), and representatives of other left-wing political forces, and visited the Vrana Palace, where President Ho Chi Minh stayed in August 1957 during his visit to this country.
This is the first official visit to Bulgaria by a general secretary of the CPV since this nation transitioned to a new political system in 1990, and coincides with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
