Statistics show that from January to September, purchases of information and communications technology (ICT) products totaled $686.79 million, an increase of $70.37 million (11.4 percent) compared to the $616.42 million spent in the same period in 2024.
Technology equipment, such as computers and telephones, consumer electronics, electronic components, and miscellaneous items, ranks high among purchases, the BCR reported.
Meanwhile, Vietnam is the second largest supplier to the local market, with sales of ICT equipment amounting to $103.35 million through September, followed by Mexico with $70.24 million, followed by the United States with $26.90 million, and Taiwan with $7.42 million.
China and El Salvador are currently making progress in negotiating a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) that should increase bilateral trade.
