This is the case with the weekly El Popular, the organ of the Uruguayan Communist Party (PCU), whose back cover this week is dedicated to the October 17 and 18 concerts that filled the Antel Arena in this capital.
“They were a moment of complicity, belonging, enjoyment, and gratitude,” emphasizes the text by Gabriel Mazzarovich, editor of that publication.
“Identification with Silvio has multiple dimensions: musical, poetic, supportive, political, and profound,” he adds.
And he adds that the Cuban artist has managed to transcend generations.

“Grandfathers and grandmothers, sons and daughters, and grandchildren were present at the Antel Arena, united by the magic of Silvio and his songs. Each with their own experiences, which imbue the music and lyrics with different meanings. But all united by emotion.”
Mazzarovich credits the founder of the Nueva Trova Movement with his hundreds of pieces(“of songs that are legendary hits”) and his continued creation and composition “with immense poetic and musical quality.”
