To ensure the logistics of these national legislative elections, which have generated great expectations, the Argentine Post Office made available 76,000 workers and 16,265 vehicles, ranging from trucks to mules, to distribute 108,111 ballot boxes in 16,942 polling stations across the country’s 24 provinces.
In Buenos Aires province alone, the largest and most politically significant, 40,201 ballot boxes were distributed in 6,634 polling stations for 13,115,144 eligible voters.
An estimated 297 candidate lists from 129 political parties are competing to elect 127 lawmakers in the 24 provinces, and 24 national senators in eight of them, according to data from the National Electoral Chamber.
The districts electing legislators to the Upper House in this election are the City of Buenos Aires, Chaco, Entre Rios, Neuquen, Rio Negro, Santiago del Estero, Salta, and Tierra del Fuego.
