The Vietnamese prime minister shared a working breakfast this Monday with his counterparts from Cambodia, Hun Manet, and Laos, Sonexay Siphandone, on the penultimate working day in Kuala Lumpur, the venue for the major regional meeting.
The meeting took place “in a cordial, sincere, and open atmosphere” and assessed the status of trilateral cooperation, analyzed international and regional issues of common interest, and reflected on the significant efforts being made to overcome challenges in security, politics, and socioeconomic development.
Minh Chinh spoke on Sunday at the 13th ASEAN-US Summit and outlined four strategic directions to strengthen ties between the two sides. The first requires promoting greater economic, trade, and investment connectivity, geared toward a balanced, harmonious, and sustainable relationship.
He also added that cooperation in digital transformation, innovation, and energy security must be deepened, cybersecurity and the fight against transnational crimes must be strengthened, and cooperation must be consolidated to maintain peace, security, and stability in the region.
The Vietnamese prime minister held a brief meeting with US President Donald Trump, during which they agreed to advance the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to make it deeper, more substantive, and effective.
