On behalf of President Nicola Maduro, Foreign Minister Yvan Gil sent, via his Telegram account, “a fraternal embrace and our sincere congratulations” to the Grenadian authorities and people on the national holiday.
The senior diplomat noted in his message that the date paved the way for glorious sovereignty, self-determination, and development, framed within its unique identity and oriented toward South-South integration.
“Today we celebrate this great milestone and reaffirm our strong friendship and alliance with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,” he emphasized.
The Caribbean archipelago achieved its final independence from the United Kingdom on October 27, 1979, and is currently a full and participating member of the Caribbean Community.
In addition to the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States are also members.
