In a statement to which Prensa Latina had access, the Love for Cuba group and other solidarity associations recalled that, despite years of harassment, “they could not yield the heroic people of (Jose) Marti and Fidel (Castro),” who have resisted with dignity the effects of a policy described as illegal and genocidal.
“The Cuban people have dealt a string of defeats to the aggressors, including the constant and massive votes at the United Nations against the US blockade and in support of Cuba since 1992.
This year will be no exception, and we are ready to celebrate another victory,” the text stated.
It underscored that since the revolutionary triumph of 1959, the Caribbean nation “overthrew an oppressive, subservient dictatorship to the United States,” undertaking the construction of a socialist revolution that has faced harassment from Washington from its inception.
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) continues its debates and will vote on the draft resolution demanding an end to the economic siege, considered the leading obstacle to the development of the Caribbean nation.
