Peskov told reporters, “We hear the statements from Washington, including US President Donald Trump, that all countries should stop buying Russian oil. We know that many countries are responding that they will decide for themselves who to buy from and what is most convenient for their national interests.”

The spokesperson also noted that Hungary’s interest in Russian energy resources stems from their high competitiveness in the international market.

He emphasized, “Any country is interested in buying strategic products, such as energy resources, of the highest quality, in large volumes, and at the lowest possible price. In this respect, Russian hydrocarbons are very competitive in international markets. This explains the interest of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.”

Peskov added that Russian energy resources are “attractive” and have strategic significance for many countries.

Orban stated earlier that, during his upcoming visit to the United States, he plans to discuss sanctions on Russian oil with Trump, as without Russian supplies, energy prices in Hungary would rise.
