The UN agency for Palestinian refugees highlighted on its X profile that 61 million tons of rubble cover the coastal enclave, where more than two million people live.

It denounced, “Homes, schools, and hospitals reduced to rubble. Amid uninhabitable conditions, people continue to be displaced in search of safety and dignity.”

UNRWA also warned in X a week ago about the large amount of rubble and garbage in the territory due to two years of Israeli aggression.

Jaco Cilliers, representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Palestine, affirmed a few days before that solid waste management in Gaza Strip represents a major challenge for reconstruction efforts.

Gaza Press Office recently estimated that the Strip is covered by between 65 and 70 million tons of rubble and waste due to the war.
