Diplomatic sources informed that this marks a significant step forward in the more than 50 years of diplomatic relations and reaffirms the mutual commitment to strengthening economic, trade, investment, and financial cooperation, areas considered the cornerstones of their bilateral ties.
The Joint Declaration issued on the matter stated that both parties commit to strengthening collaboration in multiple key areas and promoting free, fair, inclusive, and sustainable trade, creating a transparent and open business environment, eliminating barriers to market access, and facilitating exports and investment.
The two nations will also collaborate on the development of International Financial Centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, and enhance cooperation in science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and health as key drivers for sustainable development, as well as in the area of climate action, among others.
The document also reflects the willingness of Vietnam and the United Kingdom to promote global peace, stability, and prosperity, respecting the United Nations Charter and international law, and sharing the vision of a just international order based on law, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
To Lam paid a busy agenda which included official talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in which they exchanged views on the development of bilateral cooperation, which has progressed positively, particularly in overcoming obstacles and seeking mutually beneficial solutions.
