Haiti’s acting Prime Minister, Alix Didier, reaffirmed his cabinet’s commitment to supporting all affected families and aiding reconstruction efforts.
Didier called for national solidarity and collective responsibility in the face of this tragedy, which once again highlights the country’s vulnerability to climate hazards.
The newspaper Haiti Libre reports that the top leader instructed ministers and directors general to mobilize all available resources on the ground.
The Ministry of Public Works, Transportation, and Communications is to roceed speedily to clear blocked roads, repair damaged infrastructure, and restore communication routes to the affected areas.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Rural Development will be responsible for conducting a rapid assessment of agricultural losses and proposing measures to support farmers and revive food production, the Haiti Libre newspaper reported.
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund will immediately deploy emergency aid to affected families, including the distribution of food, drinking water, and hygiene kits.
