Upon receiving the Cuban diplomatic head at the Ministry, Sanyatwe highlighted the historical bilateral ties and the potentialities of these relations, expressing gratitude for the Caribbean island’s support of Zimbabwe’s struggle for independence and development.
After expressing satisfaction at traveling to Havana to attend the 11th International Convention on Physical Activity and Sports, AFIDE 2025, the minister agreed with the Cuban ambassador on the need to work in areas with great potential, such as sports and culture.
Perez Mesa provided an update on the results of the recent United Nations vote on the resolution against the US blockade, with a majority victory and support for Cuba from 165 countries.
The ambassador also commented on the effects of Hurricane Melissa in the island’s eastern region, while the minister praised the Cuban Civil Defense system.
In conjunction with AFIDE 2025, Sanyatwe will hold a bilateral program that includes meetings with his counterparts from the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) and the Culture Ministry (MINCULT).
