“We have set up a collection center and are asking the Mexican people, who have always been very supportive, for contributions of powdered milk, canned goods, and medical supplies,” said activist Olivia Garza.

She added that solidarity cannot be blocked and that Cubans living in Mexico will step forward “to support the island in these times of emergency.”

The storm caused severe flooding, as well as material damage to homes and agriculture in the eastern provinces.
