Russia shot down 64 Ukrainian drones in several regions

Moscow, November 3 (Prensa Latina) Russian air defense systems intercepted 64 Ukrainian attack drones in several regions of the European part of the country on Monday, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.

According to the ministry’s official Telegram channel, 29 drones were shot down in Rostov region; the same number in the Saratov region; four in Volgograd; one in Belgorod; and one in Stavropol.

Meanwhile, the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) reported temporary flight restrictions at Saratov airport on Monday to ensure passenger safety.

Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine, which President Vladimir Putin claims aims at protectng the population from “genocide by the Kyiv government” and to address national security risks.

Drone attacks launched from Ukraine against military and civilian targets in the Russian rear have since become commonplace.

Russian provinces bordering Ukraine, such as Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Voronezh, as well as the Crimean Peninsula, regularly report shelling, drone incursions, and other attacks from across the border, forcing residents to seek refuge elsewhere.

In recent months, Ukraine has focused its drone attacks on refineries, fuel depots, and other facilities in Russia’s oil industry, primarily in border provinces, but also in more remote areas such as Nizhny Novgorod, Bashkortostan, and Tatarstan.
