The Independent National Election Commission informed that the president was declared the winner this Saturday with 97.66 percent of the vote, in an election where the two main opposition candidates were excluded.
Samia was re-elected by the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party, which has governed the country since its independence in 1961, against an estimated 17 parties that fielded candidates.
She assumed office after the death of her predecessor, John Magufuli, in 2021 and ran for president for the first time.
