Putin establishes Day of Languages of Russia’s Peoples

Moscow, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Tuesday establishing the "Day of Languages of the Peoples of Russia" and celebrating it on September 8 each year.

“Aimed at preserving and supporting the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation, I hereby decree: to establish the Day of the Languages of the Peoples of the Russian Federation and celebrate it on September 8,” reads the text of the decree.

The Kremlin press office stated that the president issued the decree establishing the Day of the Languages of the Peoples of the Russian Federation to support and preserve national languages.

Putin previously signed another document establishing the “Day of the Indigenous Peoples of Russia,” to be marked on April 30.

Both decrees were issued on November 4, the same day that the entire Russian Federation celebrates National Unity Day, under the motto “Many Peoples, But One Motherland.”
