Remittance services maintain an upward trend in Colombia

Bogota, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) Remittances continue their upward trend in Colombia and, according to experts, could reach a record high, exceeding US$13 billion by the end of this year.

According to a report from the Central Bank of Colombia (Banco de la República), these transfers surpassed the US$1.1 billion mark for the second time in history last September.

This figure also represents a 6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

The analysis by the financial institution revealed that during the first nine months of the year, Colombians sent approximately US$9.76 billion to their families and friends.

Thus, remittances maintain a year-on-year growth rate of over 12 percent for the period, according to the bank.

Colombia has now received more than US$1 billion per month in remittances for 16 consecutive months.

September was behind July, when $1.158 billion was reported, while in August, remittances from Colombians abroad totaled $1.095 billion.

According to analysts, this year remittances could represent three percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product.
