Cuba to host 18th Rafael Lay in Memoriam Charangueando Festival

Havana, Nov 5 (Prensa Latina) The 18th Rafael Lay in Memoriam Charangueando Festival will be held in the Cuban capital from November 12 to 16, featuring a diverse lineup of artists who promote and celebrate this traditional musical format.

Under the slogan “Rhythm, Tradition, and Joy,” the audience can enjoy 16 musical groups performing at the 31 y 2 Plaza Cultural Center; the Music Hall on Galiano Avenue; and the Capri Hotel, the venue for the press briefing.

Among this year’s new features are the Alma y Charanga cigar exhibition and the launch of the Charangueando cocktail, both at the Capri Hotel’s opening ceremony.

The Estrellas Cubanas, Jorrin, and Aragon orchestras will liven up on opening evening, and a gathering of the participating groups is planned to foster camaraderie and exchange experiences.

The festival also features the 5th Rafael Lay in Memoriam Colloquium at the Capri Hotel on November 13 and 14.

This academic symposium will be dedicated to the 100th birthday of Cuban flautist and founder of Orquesta Sublime, Melquiades Fundora, and Cuban pianist and composer Neno Gonzalez.
