The report, referenced today by the local press, indicates that the situation is expected to worsen in 2026 due to ongoing armed conflicts, floods, and population displacement.
Throughout the year, analyses of food insecurity in the DRC have shown an increasing number of people in critical situations, primarily in the provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu, Tanganyika, and Ituri, the areas most devastated by conflict and attacks against the civilian population.
The report noted that environmental destruction due to confrontations and natural disasters such as floods, as well as persistent insecurity in agricultural areas, are significant factors in the worsening situation.
This is compounded by the mass displacement of populations due to violence and the difficulties in delivering humanitarian aid, both because of a lack of funds and because of security problems and insufficient infrastructure.
The report recommended, in addition to ending the armed conflict, facilitating humanitarian access to the most vulnerable areas, creating a social protection program, and strengthening food price controls, among other measures.
