Themed “Building Consensus for Shared Benefits: Media’s Role in Global Governance,” the two-day event brings together hundreds of government officials, leaders of international organizations, and media representatives from the Global South.
Participants are exchanging views on how to strengthen the voice of developing countries, promote equity in international communication, and share stories on peace and development.
The event marked the official launch of the Global South Media Partners Mechanism, aimed at promoting equitable consultation, shared development, and the discursive capacity of developing nations.
Media executives, representatives of international organizations, and diplomats accredited to China sent messages or spoke at the opening ceremony.
China Global Television Network (CGTN), the international arm of China Media Group (CMG), launched three new channels: CGTN Global Biz, China Travel, and Discovering China, during the event.
They will broadcast 24 hours a day on 15 international streaming platforms, reaching 200 million global viewers.
