The congratulations were conveyed by Cuba’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Milena Zaldivar, after greeting His Majesty and extended warm wishes for the well-being of the Cambodian people during the torch-lighting ceremony that kicked off the national celebrations.

Zaldivar also reiterated Diaz-Canel’s commitment to strengthening the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation, in the year that both countries celebrate the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
In the context of the celebration, Diaz-Canel, who is the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), also sent a congratulatory message to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, reaffirming “the commitment to working on the implementation of high-level agreements, based on the historic relations of friendship and cooperation between our countries.”
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, in turn, congratulated Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, who expressed his intention to continue strengthening ties between the two nations.
Cambodia and Cuba celebrated in April the 65th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and a friendship forged by King-Father Norodom Sihanouk and the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and based on mutual affection, respect, and admiration.
