The strike began at midnight after negotiations between the company and the union, mediated by the Labor Directorate, failed.
“It is inexplicable that the company’s management has led us by the hand into a strike that we have always considered avoidable, given their profits and the moderation of our labor demands, Mario Troncoso, president of the Pilots’ Union, which has 464 members said.
He added that in 18 months Latam accumulated profits of US$1.5 billion, while the workers’ demands amount to less than one percent of those profits.
Due to the strike, the airline rescheduled some flights for today and tomorrow and recommended that passengers check their flight status before heading to the airport.
