In statements to the “Revista en Vivo” program on Channel 4, cited by the Pastran Report bulletin, the head of the Institute for Agricultural Protection and Health (IPSA) specified that exports exceeded $2.6 billion in the first nine months of the year.
“We are breaking historical records. We exported 61 products to 28 countries, compared to only 22 products in 2007,” Somarriba stated, highlighting the dynamism experienced by the various agricultural sectors.
Coffee production shows a 52 percent increase compared to the previous year, while beef production has grown by 18 percent, with daily slaughter increasing from 600 to 900 head of cattle.
In the dairy sector, the country now has 34 certified plants, compared to 22 in 2007, and three new facilities will be inaugurated in the coming days, bringing the total to 137 nationwide.
Among the innovations, powdered eggs stand out, recently added to the export offerings to El Salvador and attracting interest from other nations.
