The ministry also called on Chinese citizens currently in Japan to increase their security measures, stay informed, and contact Chinese diplomatic missions in case of any emergency.
This statement follows a previous appeal by the Chinese Foreign Ministry urging its citizens to refrain from traveling to the neighboring country in the coming days.
“Since the beginning of this year, Japan’s social security system has been unstable, and there have been numerous cases of rape and other crimes against Chinese citizens, as well as many attacks against Chinese citizens in Japan,” the Foreign Ministry stated.
Furthermore, the Foreign Ministry denounced that “Japanese leaders have openly made explicit provocative comments related to Taiwan, seriously deteriorating the atmosphere of personnel exchanges between China and Japan, and posing significant risks to the personal safety and lives of Chinese citizens in Japan.” Tensions between the two nations continue to rise after Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi told the Diet (Parliament) last week that if Beijing attacked Taiwan, it would create “an existential crisis” for Japan, potentially leading the country to mobilize its self-defense forces to intervene in the Taiwan Strait.
The Chinese Ministry of Defense stressed that these statements regarding Taiwan constituted serious interference in the country’s internal affairs.
