According to the statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the issue was addressed in a telephone conversation between Foreign Minister Badr Abdellatty and Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh.
They agreed that any future UN Security Council resolution on Gaza must satisfy Palestinian aspirations for self-determination and an independent state.
In this regard, they estimated that a draft resolution in the body, to be presented this week by the United States, should help end the Israeli aggression against Gaza.
Abdellatty and al-Sheikh also discussed preparations for an international conference on the reconstruction of Gaza, which Egyptian authorities are organizing for the end of this month.
Both officials agreed to maintain close coordination to safeguard Palestinian rights and promote a genuine and just peace, the statement said.
