Jordan condemns Israeli calls to attack Palestinian leadership

Amman, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) The Jordanian government strongly rejected the recent statements by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, calling them “provocative, reprehensible, and constituting serious incitement.”

In an official statement, Foreign Ministry spokesman Fouad Majali affirmed that the Israeli official’s remarks represent a “flagrant violation” of international law and a “clear threat” against the Palestinian leadership.

Majali emphasized that this type of rhetoric fuels violence in a context already marked by escalating tensions in the occupied territories.

According to Israeli media, Ben-Gvir called for Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to be placed in “solitary confinement” and maintained that high-ranking Palestinian officials should be targeted for assassination if the UN moves toward recognizing a Palestinian state.

The far-right minister’s remarks came just hours before the UN Security Council vote on a resolution aimed at ending the comprehensive plan for Gaza championed by US President Donald Trump.

That plan mentions the possibility of a future Palestinian state, a proposal to which the current Israeli government strongly opposes.

Majali reiterated the Kingdom’s condemnation of the repeated “racist and inflammatory” statements by members of the Israeli cabinet, while also denouncing the intensification of restrictive measures against the Palestinian population in the occupied West Bank and the pressure exerted on its already weakened economy.
