Youth from Africa and EU meet in Angola

Luanda, Nov 20 (Prensa Latina) A hundred young people and members of civil society from the member countries of the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) are holding a forum in this capital to address their common challenges.

Running until November 21, the meeting, considered a side event to the 7th AU-EU Summit, addresses issues such as participation in decision-making and the development of skills and contests through youth programs.

Angola’s Secretary of State for Youth, Danila Patricia de Almeida Braganca, stated that the ideas and initiatives stemming from the debate should be included in the Luanda Declaration, which will be signed at the conclusion of the summit meeting between the two blocs, scheduled for November 24-25.

“Young people are strategic partners for the development of any nation,” she affirmed, hence the importance of their opinions in guiding joint actions for this sector.

Angola is preparing the 7th AU-EU Summit, for which 48 heads of State and Government have confirmed their attendance to date.

The summit, which will be held in the new Protocol Hall opened in Luanda to commemorate the 50th anniversary of independence, will have as its main theme “Promoting Peace and Prosperity through Effective Multilateralism.”
