DRC and UAE reaffirm commitment to deepening cooperation

Kinshasa, Nov 21 (Prensa Latina) The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) issued a statement on Friday in which they reaffirmed the importance of current cooperation and the commitment to deepening and expanding bilateral relations.

Published by the DRC Presidency on its X account, the document details aspects of the talks between Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan during his visit on November 16.

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations, as well as regional issues of common interest, and emphasized the deep and long-standing partnership between the two countries, characterized by extensive and solid cooperation that has seen steady progress in the last few years.

The DRC and UAE representatives agreed to strengthen and expand this collaboration, and the Emirati foreign minister welcomed the Congolese presidency of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).

The UAE also welcomed the signing of the Doha Peace Framework Agreement between the DRC Government and the Congo River Alliance-the March 23 Movement (AFC/M23), which “is a decisive step for national reconciliation and the realization of the Congolese people’s aspirations for security, prosperity, and global peace.”
