Russia does not know whether Ukraine accepted US peace plan

Moscow, Nov 21 (Prensa Latina) Russia does not know whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has agreed to negotiate based on the new peace plan proposed by his US counterpart, Donald Trump, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported.

The spokesman stated that Moscow has not yet been informed of Zelensky’s agreement to negotiate Trump’s peace plan, and noted that, to date, there is no official confirmation of the information disseminated in foreign media regarding Kiev’s willingness to negotiate the points of the plan, the ongoing consultations, and the dates for a possible signing.

For his part, Zelensky commented last night on his Telegram channel that, during a meeting with US representatives who presented him with a plan to end the conflict on Thursday, he formulated the key principles for Ukraine. He also added that he expects to speak with President Trump in the coming days.

Earlier this week, some US media outlets reported that Russia and the United States held secret consultations and worked on a 28-point plan to end the conflict between Kiev and Moscow.

According to the reports, the draft includes provisions that would require Ukraine to halve its army and withdraw from the territories it still controls in Donbas in exchange for security guarantees from Washington.

The US news outlet Axios reported that the initiative stipulates formal recognition by the United States and other countries of Crimea and Donbas as legitimate Russian territories; however, Ukraine would not be obligated to accept such recognition.

A senior US government official told NBC News on Wednesday that President Trump has approved the plan.

Earlier on Thursday, Axios reported that the White House informed Kiev and its European allies that the peace plan is an “open” document, open to their input, so that their positions can be taken into account.
