Selassie stressed that in today’s complex and interconnected world, it is essential for Africa and other developing countries to have a meaningful and permanent voice in global decision-making.
He called for reforms to ensure fair and representative international institutions, including a permanent seat in Africa on the United Nations Security Council and multilateral financial systems that better respond to the needs of those nations.
He stressed that the world order must ensure the equal participation of all countries in promoting shared prosperity, peace and stability.
The VII African Union-European Union Summit met here on November 24 and 25, bringing together leaders from the continental organization and member states of the economic partnership.
Peace, security, climate action, economic integration and global governance were the focus of discussions.
According to local authorities, the event attracted more than 80 delegations, which represents a record for the African nation in terms of the number of personalities received.
African leaders called for fairer financial support, faster implementation of joint projects and a stronger role in international institutions.
They also called for increased investment in clean energy and sustainable development.
