The Nation newspaper stated that the two officials discussed regional and international events in a meeting in Islamabad before Sharif departed for Bahrain.
During the meeting, the head of Government praised Iran’s principled stance on regional issues and expressed his and his country’s gratitude for Tehran’s solidarity with Pakistan during difficult times, according to the Pakistani newspaper.
Ali Ardeshir Larijani, in turn, emphasized the need to strengthen ties in broad areas of mutual benefit.
Larijani thanked the people and Government for their firm support of Iran during its recent 12-day war against Israel and expressed his deep gratitude for Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue and diplomacy for the peaceful resolution of disputes.
During the meeting, Sharif and Larijani also exchanged views on major regional and international developments, highlighting the importance of coordinated efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
