Dedicated to confronting gender-based violence in the audiovisual and cultural spheres in their broadest sense, the Film Academy and the relevant government ministry also presented the Framework Protocol.
Along these lines, the website unidadculturasinviolencia.es was launched, and an analysis was conducted on the effectiveness of the Unit’s Support Service, an initiative that began operating in October 2024.
The president of the Film Academy, Fernando Mendez-Leite, emphasized the “crucial importance” of this initiative.
“For this institution, it is both a challenge and a responsibility to serve as a point of reference for detecting and addressing situations of violence against women in our industry, and to provide the best possible support to victims.
We want to live up to this commitment,” Mendez-Leite affirmed.
For his part, the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, commented that “this Unit was created to tell all women in film, audiovisual media, and culture that they will be heard, their stories matter, and it is a collective and essential task to amplify their voices and give them the place they haven’t had before.”
