The vote took place during the 55th session of the Arab Information Ministers’ Council, whose presidency was assumed by the Syrian Arab Republic, replacing the Kingdom of Bahrain.
In a statement published on the X platform, Syrian Information Minister Hamza Al-Mustafa emphasized that the Council’s presidency represents “a significant step” in national efforts to consolidate a professional, transparent, and credible media system.
It is a gesture that reflects genuine Arab support for the new Syria, both in words and deeds, he added.
During the presidential handover ceremony, Al-Mustafa emphasized that Syria’s contribution this year will focus on promoting unified Arab media cooperation policies, with a particular emphasis on the localization of digital knowledge.
We are facing a media landscape that imposes new equations.
Syria is transitioning toward a digital transformation and artificial intelligence that poses new challenges, the Minister stated, adding that the country “has gone from consuming content to producing it, thanks to this transformation.”
Al-Mustafa affirmed that Syria “has shaken off the dust of difficult years” and is returning to its natural Arab place.
