Thirteen tropical cyclones formed, all of them named storms, as they reached tropical storm status.
Five became hurricanes, and four of those were major hurricanes.
This year’s records show that three of these intense hurricanes reached the highest category, a feat only previously achieved in 2005, when four reached this level.
Storms such as Erin, Humberto, and Melissa, due to their powerful winds, reached Category 5, the highest category on the Saffir-Simpson scale.
Melissa is considered the most powerful and destructive hurricane of 2025, and historically the third worst recorded in the Atlantic, behind Gilberto (1988) and Wilma (2005).
Melissa’s powerful passage through the Caribbean is said to have produced a wind gust of 405 km/h, classified by specialists as the most intense ever recorded in the Atlantic basin and the second strongest worldwide.
This phenomenon left a trail of destruction across the Caribbean and caused significant damage in Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.
The first cyclone of the season was Andrea, which formed on June 23, and the season also saw 13 tropical depressions and an equal number of storms.

Cuerpo : Se formaron 13 ciclones tropicales, todos tormentas nombradas, pues alcanzaron la categoría de tormenta tropical.
Cinco se convirtieron en huracanes y cuatro fueron de gran intensidad.
En los registros de este año consta que tres de estos huracanes intensos alcanzaron la máxima categoría, algo que solo aconteció antes en 2005, cuando cuatro alcanzaron esta cota. Meteoros como Erin, Humberto y Melissa, por la fuerza de sus vientos, alcanzaron categoría cinco o máxima en la escala Saffir–Simpson.
Melissa está considerado como el más poderoso y destructivo de este 2025, e históricamente el tercero peor de los registrados en el Atlántico, detrás de Gilberto (1988) y Wilma (2005).
Se dice que el poder de Melissa en su paso por el Caribe produjo una ráfaga de viento de 405 km/h, catalogada por especialistas como la más intensa registrada en la cuenca del Atlántico y la segunda a nivel mundial.
