Cuba is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its incorporation as a member state of the IUIN with several events related to this field, from December 1 to 5, according to a source from the Agency of Nuclear Energy and Advanced Technologies (Aenta), belonging to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.
Among the activities are the Meeting of the Committee of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Governments of IUIN Member States, with the participation of 18 countries and delegates from international organizations, as well as the Meeting of the Finance Committee, on December 1 and 2 in Varadero, Matanzas.
In addition, Havana will host the Latin American Seminar for the Development of Scientific and Technical Collaboration in the Nuclear Sphere between Latin America and the Caribbean and the IUIN.
A central commemorative event will also be held to mark the 50th anniversary of Cuba’s incorporation into the institution, Eleonaivys Parsons, communications specialist at Aenta, told Prensa Latina.
Experts will evaluate the progress of major science, technology, and innovation projects, the strategic development plan through 2030, and scientific and technological collaboration, as well as strengthen exchanges among scientists and academics and training programs.
During a half-century of scientific collaboration between Cuba and the Unified Institute of Nuclear Research, more than 300 scientists, specialists, and students from the island have had the opportunity to collaborate and train in the field of nuclear sciences. jha/abm
