Vietnamese PM meets Prensa Latina president

Hanoi, Dec 1 (Prensa Latina) Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met on Monday with Jorge Legañoa, president of the Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina (PL), who traveled to Vietnam for a working meeting with the Vietnamese news agency VNA.

Minh Chinh thanked Prensa Latina for its support of VNA in training several generations of Spanish-speaking reporters and editors, many of whom later became leaders at VNA, he said. He noted that the ties between the two agencies also symbolize the special relationship between Cuba and Vietnam.

Prensa Latina, he added, has been a valuable source of information since the war, supporting and disseminating the cause of Vietnam’s defense and reconstruction, as well as its people’s successes.

The head of Government underscored that this nation will never forget the island’s support for the cause of national independence and noted that, under any circumstances, Vietnam will always stand with Cuba.

Referring to the cooperation between Prensa Latina and VNA, he commented that it is particularly close and sincere and stressed both sides’ willingness to create the best conditions to fulfill their tasks, to defend and disseminate the truth, and provide accurate and timely information.

Minh Chinh also mentioned the satisfactory results of the rice project being developed by Vietnamese specialists in the Cuban province of Pinar del Rio.

He confirmed that, in addition to expanding collaboration in food production, Vietnam will contribute to solving energy and telecommunications problems with Cuba.

Legañoa, in turn, conveyed to Minh Chinh his condolences for the serious damage caused by the recent rains and floods in the country’s central region, and affirmed that “our nations are united by the language of love.”

The Prensa Latina president underscored that his visit comes at an important time, marking 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, and highlighted that 2026 will also have significant milestones, including the 65th anniversary of the opening of Prensa Latina’s correspondent office in Hanoi and VNA’s in Havana.
