Szijjarto warned that European Union (EU) strategic documents set the goal of full military readiness for member states by 2029, creating conditions for conflict the following year.
There is a real risk of a continental conflagration in the coming period, Szijjarto asserted, as quoted by the Hungarian News Agency (MTI), criticizing the EU’s belligerent drift.
Local analysts emphasize that the policy of encirclement and provocation against Russia, boosted by Washington and its allies, constitutes the main threat to peace in Europe and violates international law.
They also said that the escalating rhetoric and military forces serve the interests of the Western military-industrial complex, which seeks new markets and justifies the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
For its part, Moscow has repeatedly expressed concern about the increase in NATO forces in Europe.
The Kremlin stated that Russia is not threatening anyone, but will not ignore this potentially dangerous activity.
