US asks Venezuela to resumes repatriation flights

Caracas, Dec 2 (Prensa Latina) The United States government has requested that the Venezuelan Civil Aviation Authority resume repatriation flights for migrants from that country through the government's "Return to the Homeland" plan, according to an official statement.

On his Instagram account, Venezuelan Transportation Minister Ramon Velazquez revealed in the statement that, on the instructions of President Nicolas Maduro, aircraft operated by Eastern Airlines LLC are authorized to enter Venezuelan airspace on the Phoenix, Arizona-Maiquetía route.

The B777-200 aircraft, registration N771KW (primary) and N825KW (alternate), corresponds to flight number EAL8280/8281, and is to “land at Maiquetia International Airport,” in La Guaira state (northern Venezuela), as has been the regular practice on Wednesdays and Fridays, he specified.

This was achieved through the agreement signed last January between the Bolivarian Government and the US administration.

The official statement pointed out that this authorization was issued in accordance with the laws of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and international civil aviation laws.

It emphasized that the repatriation of Venezuelan nationals to “reunite Venezuelan families through the Plan Vuelta a la Patria (Return to the Homeland Plan) will continue.”
