A statement from the party asserts that Venezuela is under a hybrid war, combining tightened economic and financial sanctions, a military offensive, and attacks through the media.
It notes that since September, Washington has deployed a war fleet off the Venezuelan coast and is bombing civilian boats under the pretext of combating drug trafficking.
The PVP stated that Trump is waging a war not authorized by Congress, which has already resulted in war crimes.
This represents a reformulation of the Monroe Doctrine against the country with the world’s largest proven oil reserves, a country that is attempting to exercise its sovereignty without Washington’s tutelage, the document states.
Given this situation, the People’s Victory Party (PVP) denounces the US violation of all legal provisions and international treaties.
It expresses its solidarity with the Venezuelan people in the face of Washington’s pressure and the threat of new imminent attacks.
It condemns “the ambivalent positions of the Uruguayan right regarding the legality and legitimacy of Trump’s foreign policy.”
The People’s Victory Party calls on the government of President Yamandú Orsi “to re-establish relations with Venezuela as a fundamental aspect of restoring Uruguay’s diplomatic tradition.”
