US Peace Plan for Ukraine needs radical changes

Moscow, Dec 7 (Prensa Latina) The United States' position on certain aspects of the conflict in Ukraine needs fundamental modifications to move forward in the talks, stated Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

“Some issues require the Americans to make serious, I would say radical, changes to their documents, which are constantly changing and being prepared,” Ushakov told journalist Pavel Zarubin of Rossiya 1 television channel.

Ushakov asserted that, following the recent visit of US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow, the parties achieved a better mutual understanding. “Undoubtedly, now that the Americans better understand the logic of our position,” he maintained.

When asked about a possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, the presidential advisor affirmed that the issue was not addressed during the talks. “That specific topic wasn’t even discussed,” Ushakov noted.

On December 2, the Russian president received Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law and Affinity Partners founder, Jared Kushner, at the Kremlin.

The visit by the American representatives was related to discussions on the White House peace plan for Ukraine.

According to Putin, the US side divided the 27 points into four packages and proposed discussing them separately.

On that occasion, the Russian presidential advisor described the talks at the Kremlin as very substantive and added that contacts between Russia and the United States would continue, noting that the Russian military’s battlefield successes had a positive impact on the course and nature of the negotiations.
