Central American and Pan American champion Daniel Gregorich was unable to travel to the Panama at the last minute due to health problems, and his was the only division that failed to secure a place in the tournament.
Milaimy Marin, a world bronze medalist, was selected as the best female athlete in the sport this year, and Yaynelis Sanz, gold medalist at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Asunción and fifth at the world championships, was chosen as the best among rookies.
At a press conference, Torres announced tomorrow’s Wrestling Gala, featuring one match in each of the 18 Olympic weight classes, across all disciplines.
Regarding future plans, the director commented that participation in 17 international events is scheduled for 2026, including the regional competition.
However, he cautioned that two of these events will be held in the United States: the U-23 World Championships and the Pan American qualifier for the Senior World Championships. “We’re aware of the traditional difficulties with visas, but we’re confident that we will be able to attend,” he concluded.
