Among the objectives included in the agreement signed with the Government are the reduction of poverty and hunger; guaranteeing health and well-being; and ensuring quality education for children, adolescents, and young people; a local news outlet informed.

Additionally, gender equality; access to clean water and sanitation; affordable and clean energy; decent work and economic growth; industry, innovation, and infrastructure; and the reduction of inequality, Prensa Libre newspaper underscored.

Between 2020 and 2025, the international organization allocated a similar amount to promote programs and projects focused on closing development gaps, protecting the rights of inhabitants, and ensuring the implementation of plans in communities.

The cooperation of the United Nations System (UNS) is in tune with the “K’atun Development National Plan: Our Guatemala 2032” and the Guatemalan government’s general policy for the 2024-2028 period.

United Nations Resident Coordinator in Guatemala, Miguel Barreto, stated that the shared purpose is to move towards a more prosperous, equitable, and resilient nation, in which every person can develop their full potential.
