Chad and Bangladesh offered to deploy soldiers, engineers, and police officers to assist Haitian security forces. Chad stated it would contribute 1,500 uniformed personnel.
Other pledges—according to the newspaper Le Nouvelliste—came from Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, and Gambia in West Africa, as well as Burundi in East Africa.
Canada will contribute an additional US$40 million to the Trust Fund, provide personnel, and promise a greater focus on the protection of women and youth.
The United States announced increased political and operational support, according to the newspaper.
Five other countries—which were not named—promised to provide the FSF with more than 3,500 personnel, primarily military personnel.
At the meeting held in New York, Haiti was offered mobile units, an air unit, and a maritime component.
The Dominican Republic will contribute $10 million and will maintain access to its hospital facilities for the FSP (Public Health Force) for medical evacuations.
