Through its official website, the UN also expressed its concern about the mass displacement, the economic decline, and the decrease in aid to those who need it.
Furthermore, it noted that almost half the population will need protection and humanitarian assistance by 2026 and denounced the fact that women continue to be excluded from almost all aspects of public life.
It also warned about the denial of access to education, which will deprive the country of future professionals.
“Press freedom is increasingly restricted. Journalists face intimidation, detention, and censorship, which reduces the space for public debate and participation,” the multilateral organization stated.
Furthermore, it reported that approximately 17,4 million Afghans are suffering from food insecurity and more than 300 nutrition centers have ceased operations, affecting millions of children.
The healthcare system is also collapsing: 422 health centers closed in 2025, depriving three million people of vital care, it added.
